Standard 1: A named service lead in partnership with a named ICP co-ordinator is responsible for driving ICP development and implementation.

Process

Suggested roles and responsibilities of Service Leads:

- To work with the development lead to ensure progress towards project aims and targets
- To provide clinical expertise and advice to the project on the specific diagnostic group
- To advise the project team on the evidence base and local best practice for inclusion in the ICP
- To chair project meetings
- To represent the team at a senior management level on aspects of the project which require managerial decision making
- To influence key decision makers
- To ìchampionî the ICP project


Role of the ICP Co-ordinator:

- To provide leadership and marketing
- To project manage the ICP development and implementation
- To plan and evaluate
- To provide implementation support including trouble-shooting
- To communicate, chase, motivate, negotiate
- To facilitate especially process mapping & ICP writing
- To train, mentor, support
- To deliver
