About the Draft Standards

This document introduces the NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (NHS QIS) Draft Clinical Standards for Pregnancy and Newborn Screening.

These draft standards apply to specific elements of the service. They include sections on:

Policy
Newborn Screen-Rescreen Arrangements
Information and Support
Education and Training
Audit
Laboratory
Child Health Registration and Screening.

When finalised, the standards will be used by NHS QIS to assess performance in these areas in NHS Boards throughout Scotland where pregnancy and newborn screening services are provided.
