    The project began in February 2003 and final standards are due to be published in February 2006.
     
    Pilot exercises will take place later this year (2005), after which the standards will be published.

    Project Aims and Objectives

     
    To develop standards for services for older people which will help to improve the overall experience of users of services within or procured by NHSScotland. The standards will apply to all older people moving through a variety of settings (primary and acute) in NHSScotland, not just in hospitals. Performance across NHSScotland will be assessed and reported on locally and nationally.

    Project History

    • Draft Standards and Self Assessment were published in May 2004.
    • Consultation phase expected to last until December 2005.
    The public involvement part of the consultation process has finished.
