If you have the experience of NHSScotland as a patient, or through caring for a friend or relative, or have a general interest in the health service, you could help with our reviews of healthcare services. In return for your commitment, we will:
- provide full training for your new role
- put in place any particular support you require
- make sure you are not out of pocket when you incur expenses.
By joining our pool of Public Partners, you will be helping to ensure that our standards and guidance focus on what is important - delivering the best care possible for patients across Scotland. Once you are trained as a Public Partner, there will be other opportunities to be involved in different aspects of our work.

Public Partner Handbook (Word, 666K, 1min 15secs)
The purpose of this handbook is to provide guidance for all public partners on the main terms and conditions, policies and structures that are in place to support your work with our organisation.
As well as the work being done on producing a new PFPI Framework, we are also conducting a critical analysis of our existing systems, practices and cultures for involving people in our work. This will include reform to ensure that public partners who work with and for us reflect the diversity that exists in Scotland's various communities. This will ensure that our work is informed by that diversity and so ensure that our influence on the rest of NHS Scotland helps ensure the quality of services is available to people from all communities. This work will take time to complete, and applications to join us in our work will not be actioned until the review is complete and any reforms identified as necessary have been implemented.
If at any stage you would like to contact someone about becoming a Public Partner, please use our Contact Details page to communicate with our Public Involvement Unit by phone or email.
