Public Partners Conference 2005 - Scouting New Trails for Patient Focus and Public Involvement

NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (NHS QIS) held its second one-day conference for Public Partners in May 2005 in Glasgow, with over 60 Public Partners attending and participating in workshops.

The conference s central theme was partnership working between NHS QIS and the lay people who work with us as volunteers. The conference activities, and in particular the four workshops, aimed to offer opportunities to Public Partners to influence and continue to improve our partnership working in the future. As well as participating in workshops, delegates were asked to complete and post ballot papers on whether or not they agreed that there was a need to change the name Public Partner to reflect the range of roles that our lay volunteers now undertake, and whether payment should be made for the work that they do. You can find details of the discussion and of the outcomes of the workshops and ballots in this report.

Public Partners Conference 2004

In February 2004 we held the first conference for Public Partners. The conference is another important facet in our support structures for Public Partners, enabling their networking, and creating yet another opportunity for them to influence our work. The inaugural conference generated such a wealth of feedback that we decided a special edition of the newsletter should be published and allow us the room to give a considered and full response to what was a range of challenging and valuable views.
