Overall project aim

To conduct a three year study of standardised case review of SUDI in Scotland in children aged 0-2 years who die suddenly and unexpectedly and whose deaths lead to fiscal autopsy.

  • To audit consistency of approach by police and Procurator Fiscal
  • To audit consistency of diagnosis by pathologists
  • To identify family support needs and provide feedback to appropriate professionals
  • To secure inter-agency working
