Background Information

This project was undertaken in 2 stages; stage 1 running from May 2002 to April 2003 and stage 2 from May 2003 to November 2005.

The project grant-holder during phase 1 was Mr A J Cowles, General Secretary, Royal College of Radiologists, and during stage 2 was Mr Andrew Hall, Chief Executive, Royal College of Radiologists.

Aims

The overall aim of the project was to improve patient care by improving the management and planning of imaging services through the provision of robust information on all aspects of imaging at local and national level.
The funding provided by NHS QS allowed all acute Trusts in Scotland to participate in the project in order to determine whether the CIRIS programme was an effective tool for this purpose.
