About the Network
This network supports the development of clinical practice and is a valuable asset to the orthoptic profession, and can potentially alter and improve our current practice, ultimately benefiting patients. There are challenges ahead if we are to embrace the concept of practice development.
Mission Statement
Network Aims
The network will aim to:
- Develop knowledge of practice development amongst Orthoptists working in Scotland
- Develop an evidence base to practice
- Facilitate the development of skills of clinicians to implement practice development
- Develop training through identifying gaps in professional practice
- Share information of practice development
- Actively share evidence and effective practice
- Share resources locally and nationally
- Share expertise in the practice development networks and in the multidisciplinary networks
- Encourage equity of service
- Raise awareness of the work carried out by Orthoptists amongst other AHP and health professionals.
- Represent the profession of Orthoptics at local and national level within the practice development network for allied health professions.
- Forge links with other AHP s in the practice development network for allied health professions.
- Engage in multidisciplinary network activities with a view to improving the quality of patient care
- Liase with professional and regulatory bodies.
- Where necessary develop guidelines which will improve Orthoptic practice and patient care
