The Practice Development Network – Podiatry have established a shared space on the NHS Scotland e-library to enable all levels of practitioners to have the opportunity to share practice across Scotland, identify innovative practice and share protocols. A list of training/ study days will also be provided on the site. If you are interested why not join today!

Mission Statement

In their 'Code of Conduct' for members, the Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists (SCP) state:

"Membership of the Society incurs an obligation to uphold the dignity and honour of the profession, to exalt its standing and to extend its usefulness to the public. The conduct of Fellows and Members shall at all times be both becoming and creditable to the profession."

In 2001, the SCP produced its first ever published Strategic Plan (2001- 2004) which opens with the following Mission Statement in relation to the Society's role:

"Looking after the interests of Members, enabling them to practise more effectively. That is our central purpose as a professional association and trade union."

Objectives

The Practice Development Network for Allied Health Professions - Podiatry has agreed short and long term objectives:

To maintain regional practice development networks
To centralise information from regional networks and establish a national database of practice development projects in order to facilitate sharing of practice
Identify resources required to support the network
Identify key priorities for the network
To provide regular feedback to clinicians on current practice development issues via local representatives, local network meetings, regular newsletters and the development of a website
To promote the awareness of PCEFS issues by developing links between PCEFS professional and statutory bodies
To encourage collaborative working with other professions including Medicine, Nursing and the Allied Health Professions
To organise practice development training days and conferences

Practice Development – Identifying Podiatry Clinical Improvement Priorities
