BAPO Conference 27th - 29th March 2009

The NHS QIS Practice development network for Prosthetics and Orthotics had set one of its objectives for last year to present at a national conference, and so, were delighted to be asked to present a seminar at this year’s BAPO,  (British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists) annual conference. This took place on the 27th-29th March 2009 at the Reebok stadium in Bolton and was attended by over 400 delegates. Chair of the network Nikki Munro and 3 network reps, Elaine McCurrach, Sandy Sexton and Scott Kerr shared the presentation as it was felt to be important that the work of the network was showcased as a whole rather than just being represented by the chair only. The network was also supported in the audience by another 10 of the network reps who were also in attendance at the conference. Our presentation was very well received and over the course of the weekend many people from all over the UK made inquiries about the network and our projects. Many prosthetists and orthotists working outside of Scotland congratulated us on the work we had achieved and were keen to be able to access our projects and share information with us from elsewhere in the UK . We also submitted 2 of the posters produced by the network over the last year to the poster competition and despite high quality opposition, we were delighted to win 1st and 2nd place in the competition.
