The first NHS QIS National Clinical Governance and Patient Safety Conference - Facing Challenges; Sharing Solutions was held on 24 and 25 January 2006. The aim of the conference was to provide an opportunity for NHSScotland staff at all levels to network, learn new concepts and share good practice and solutions in clinical governance, risk management and patient safety. The two-day event provided an opportunity for discussion between key individuals responsible for leading and coordinating the clinical governance and patient safety agenda across NHSScotland, and was a valuable opportunity to hear about examples of good practice.
The conference was attended by over 300 delegates from a variety of NHS organisations throughout Scotland, with both the plenary and parallel sessions proving very popular with delegates. There was a lively sense of debate and enthusiasm throughout the two days and there was definite enthusiasm to transfer ideas across NHS Boards and settings.
Feedback from the conference has been very positive and it is anticipated that a similar event will be arranged for 2007/08.
