Training Opportunity
In 2006 the Practice Development Unit of NHS Quality Improvement Scotland supported 350 nurses to do an Asthma course in collaboration with Education for Health. Following a successful celebration event in March at which the Health Minister presented nurses with their awards, a further 100 Asthma courses were arranged for early in 2007
In addition, NHS QIS agreed to fund 200 nurses to undertake COPD Diploma courses in Scotland run by Education for Health, beginning in June 2007. The venues for these courses are spread across Scotland, and each Health Board was invited to nominate candidates for the course.
The courses are now full, with two completed and eight still in progress. All feedback to date has been very positive and overall this has been a very successful project.
