About the review
Peer review visits to all NHS Boards in Scotland were conducted between May 2006 and May 2007 to assess performance against the standards. A local report on each NHS Board visit, including a detailed assessment of their performance against each standard, has also been published.Access the Clinical Governance and Risk Management local reports
Quality Assurance
This report provides the results and recommendations from the quality assurance (QA) exercise commissioned by NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (NHS QIS) to determine whether the processes used to underpin the peer review of clinical governance and risk management (CGRM) provide a sound basis for future reviews. In particular, the aim of the QA exercise is to establish whether the current model is:
- effective
- efficient, and
- sustainable
About the standards
The clinical governance and risk management standards project group was established in September 2003 under the chairmanship of Dr John Browning, Medical Director, NHS Lanarkshire (retired December 2006).
The national standards for clinical governance and risk management were developed by this group and published in October 2005 following extensive consultation.
