Review of services available to those with neurological conditions

The Report

Scott Moncrieff Report (PDF, 581KB, 1 min 25secs)

Background

The 2006 NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (QIS) “Neurological Services Steering Group – Pre-Scoping Report” recommended carrying out a stocktaking exercise of neurological services within NHS Scotland in order to provide a picture of services available nationally, regionally and locally.

As a first response to the pre-scoping report NHS QIS commissioned Scott-Moncrieff to undertake this work and their report is now available here. This report provides a snapshot of the evolving Neurological Services available from NHS Scotland.

The pre-scoping report also recommended the development of a set of standards for the provision of services for those affected by neurological conditions, and NHS QIS has now appointed a clinical advisor, Dr Richard Metcalfe of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, to take this work forward. Dr Metcalfe will be working with NHS QIS to develop the scope and evidence base for the development of the standards. A project group will be appointed in the near future to take forward this work.
