Revised NHSQIS Process for Technology Apprasial Guidance Published By NICE

This process supersedes that published by the NHS Quality Improvement Scotland in July 2003. In recognition of the needs and expectations of decision-makers in Scotland, NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (NHS QIS) advises on Technology Appraisal Guidance published by NICE (NICE Appraisals) after 1 May 2001.

Stakeholder Consultation

In 2006 NHS QIS commissioned an independent evaluation into our work.

It found we have made a positive impact on NHSScotland but we need to be clearer about why we do what we do in the way that we do it. We also need to have greater impact on frontline clinicians and primary care if we are to be of even greater value to the NHS.

As part of our work in addressing these issues, we have launched a consultation aimed at engaging key stakeholders on the future work of  NHS QIS.

The main consultation document provides information on our strategic direction and on our processes for determining what work we undertake. Accompanying it is a questionnaire that invites you to:

  • comment on these processes, and
  • identify the most pressing quality and patient safety issues to which NHS QIS should contribute.

Please fill out as much or as little as is relevant to you and return the questionnaire by 16 October 2008 to:

Equality & Diversity

NHS QIS is committed to equality and diversity. This document, and the research on which it is based, have been assessed for any likely impact on the six equality groups defined by age, gender, race/ethnicity, religion/faith, disability and sexual orientation.

Delivery Plan 2008/09 – 2010/11

In line with the guidance, we have prepared the plan based on a three year timeframe (2008/09 – 2010/11). Most of our 2008/09 commitments are projects that are already underway: the second and third years in the Plan should be regarded as provisional, apart from certain commitments such as the development of CHD standards.
