This report provides a summary of the comments we received during consultation on our Race Equality Scheme (RES) 2008–2011 and our response. We have a legal obligation to review our RES covering 2005–2008.

This also enabled us to take stock of the progress we have made in promoting race equality, review our learning and make changes for the future which are reflected in our updated RES and action plan to cover the next three years.

Fair for All Team

Our Fair for All team delivers equality and diversity within NHS QIS. The team targets the following key areas where change is needed:

  • physical access to our offices
  • access to our publications and information
  • access to this website

The team:

  • works in partnership with particular communities to improve our communications and how we reach our audiences
  • learns from profiling our workforce and ensure who works for us reflects Scotland's diverse communities

NHS QIS aims to improve and promote cultural competence across the organisation by raisng awareness and promoting good practice, by encouraging the delivery a culturally competent service in partnership with those communities: a service which is culturally sensitive and takes account of the distinctive needs of the diverse groups and communities in Scotland.
