SHTG provides evidence on the clinical and cost effectiveness of existing and new technologies likely to have significant implications for patient care in Scotland. This evidence should support the planning and decision making processes in NHS boards.
Management of obesity
This SHTG project runs in parallel with development of SIGN’s management of obesity guideline. The stages of the project involve:
- identifying material recommendations and their key drivers from the guideline
- data collection and research
- developing a costing model.
A clinical and resource impact report will then be prepared.
National clinical and resource impact report
This work aims to:
- provide a national clinical and resource impact report and costing template
- estimate the clinical benefits, resources and budget impact of implementing SIGN’s material recommendations.
Topical Negative Wound Pressure
We are also preparing a Health Technology Assessment (HTA). This will highlight indications where topical negative wound pressure is clinically and cost effective. In June 2010 we will publish our HTA report.
