About the report

NHS QIS managed the implementation of the pilot for the regulation of healthcare support workers, from January 2007 to December 2008. The pilot took place in three NHS boards and one independent hospital. The pilot tested the implementation of an employer-led model of regulation for healthcare support workers. The model consisted of induction standards for healthcare support workers, a code of conduct for healthcare support workers, a code of practice for employers, and listing of healthcare support workers who met the standards. Our final project report details the approach to implementation, the key work strands, our findings and our learning points.
