We support a range of professionals from NHS boards who inform and shape the national policy and decision make process. Chairs of each NHS board’s Area Clinical Forum (ACF) come together to form this group.
This group has direct links with the Scottish Government and meets with the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing around 3 times a year.
Local area clinical forums
There is an area clinical forum in each NHS board giving professional guidance and advice to the NHS board. These forums began in 2001 with the return to a unified board structure in NHSScotland. They are made up of the chairs of 7 area professional committees.
Representing all clinicians
This structure of bringing together area professional committees and forums ensures that clinicians from all professional groups can be:
- promoted and supported efficiently and effectively
- involved in the decision making process at local and national level.
The purpose of the network
- To inform and influence national policy and decision making process
- bringing local issues to national attention
- strengthen links with the non-executive directors network
- Annual National Conference.
Forum chair events
- The national conference for Area Clinical Forums was held on 26th May 2009.
