Glasgow Royal Infirmary Announced Inspection Report

HEI carried out an announced inspection visit to Glasgow Royal Infirmary on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 June 2010. Glasgow Royal Infirmary is in the east of the city and provides a wide range of services at both a local and national level. There are approximately 950 beds in the hospital.

We assessed the hospital against the NHS QIS HAI standards. We inspected the following areas:

  • intensive care unit
  • labour suite
  • ward 4 (cardiology/diabetes)
  • ward 17/31 (stroke)
  • ward 20/21 (elderly care)
  • ward 36 (renal)
  • ward 43 (acute medical receiving)
  • ward 46 (plastic/burns)
  • ward 61 (general surgery)
