HEI carried out an announced inspection visit to Glasgow Royal Infirmary on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 June 2010. Glasgow Royal Infirmary is in the east of the city and provides a wide range of services at both a local and national level. There are approximately 950 beds in the hospital.
We assessed the hospital against the NHS QIS HAI standards. We inspected the following areas:
- intensive care unit
- labour suite
- ward 4 (cardiology/diabetes)
- ward 17/31 (stroke)
- ward 20/21 (elderly care)
- ward 36 (renal)
- ward 43 (acute medical receiving)
- ward 46 (plastic/burns)
- ward 61 (general surgery)
