About the Project
The aim of this project was to evaluate the role of The Transfusion Nurse Specialist (TNS) working within 4 identified hospitals in Scotland. The intention was to establish a programme of clinical quality assurance and improvement in transfusion practice. The role of the TNS involved:
- Organisational Development (Training and Education)
- Continuous Quality Improvement ? The Transfusion Process
- Evidence-Based Prescribing of Blood Components
- Patient Information, Education and Decision Aids
The project began in February 2000 and finished in March 2003.
