About the Reports
In December 2001, a Food, Fluid and Nutritional Care in Hospitals Project Group was established. Membership of the Group included both healthcare professionals and members of the public, and was chaired by Ms Philippa Grant (NHS QIS Board Member until 31 December 2005). The Clinical Standards for Food, Fluid and Nutritional Care in Hospitals were published in September 2003 following extensive consultation. Peer review visits to all NHS Board areas in Scotland, including two Special Health Boards providing direct patient care, were conducted between June 2005 and February 2006, to assess performance against Standards 1, 2 and 6. Further information on why these specific standards were assessed is included in Section 1.2. A local report on each NHS Board visit, including a detailed assessment of their performance against the standards reviewed, has also been published and is available on the website or on request from NHS QIS.
